Academic exchange between Mexico and Germany has grown continuously in recent years. In 2022, we registered 470 instances of collaboration between officially registered Mexican and German universities, and the number of Mexican students in Germany rose from 730 (in 2004) to over 3,284 (in 2020).

Both Germany and DAAD are keen on further strengthening academic relations between the two countries; this steered DAAD toward expanding its presence in Mexico through the establishment of a regional office in 2000. In addition, the DAAD is represented by four lecturers in Mexico City (2), Monterrey and Guadalajara. In addition, there is the Humboldt Chair at the Colegio de México, two long-term lectureships at the UNAM and the Universidad de Guadalajara, and several language assistantships. Since 2020, the branch office also has regional responsibility for Central America and the Caribbean.

We invite you to visit our office during service hours; we offer information and can advise you on the steps to follow to carry out higher education studies or research projects in Germany. In like manner, we also advise Mexican Universities or professors/researchers on how to find academic collaborators in Germany. In addition, we provide guidance on the various scholarship programs that DAAD has to offer Mexico. We are happy to work with you!
