Programme Description
The BIH Visiting Fellowships were set up to recruit top-level international scientists working in the various life sciences for continuous activities as visiting scientists at the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH) and to integrate them in Berlin’s academic landscape in the long term. The funding is intended for scientists remaining employed by and active at their home institution abroad while simultaneously contributing to the work of the BIH on an ongoing basis. The programme is specifically targeted for candidates who plan to set up a working group at the BIH and return to Berlin for work stays several times a year to supervise the research group on location, be available to early career scientists and, in addition, to further develop cooperation with the BIH.

Scholarship Value
Each Einstein BIH Visiting Fellow is supported with a total of up to EUR 150,000 a year.

Sponsorship may include:
- personnel funding for members of the working group to be set up (i.e. for a post-doctoral researcher assuming leadership responsibilities in Berlin)
- appropriate compensation for expenses in accordance with the rules of the host institution and the fellow's qualification and position at home
- material resources to the extent necessary for a successful realisation of the research project
