As of March 1st, 2020, within the framework of the Research Training Group “Aesthetic Practice” (DFG-Graduiertenkolleg 2477) funded by the German Research Foundation at the University of Hildesheim one doctoral position (research assistant; TV-L E 13, 65%) for a maximum period of three years is to be filled at the Faculty of Cultural Studies & Aesthetic Communication.

The group investigates aesthetic practice as a sui generis phenomenon, expanding the scope of traditional philosophical aesthetics and art studies by means of practice theory. At the center of attention are forms of aesthetic production and performance, such as writing procedures, rehearsal methods, and forms of practicing and improvising, that can – but do not have to – culminate in finished works of art. We investigate these processes in the context of classical European art institutions as well as in everyday practices and non- European aesthetic practices. The Research Training Group offers a structured PhD program for German and international (post-)graduates, who distinguish themselves by their professional profile and an outstanding interdisciplinary research project that is feasible within the time frame of the position.

Application closing date: January 2, 2020. Application requirements:
